Have you ever heard the saying: "My favorite photograph is the one I haven't taken yet?" I can relate to that. I am always wanting to grow in my craft, and it's exciting to see what we'll photograph next. Sometimes, however, it's just as much fun to take the time to reflect on previous photo shoots, and see how you feel about them. This, was one such session.
Our niece was visiting for the weekend, in the summer of July 2014 (Yes, that was seven years ago) and we just did a quick spontaneous portrait session in our backyard garden..with books. Ahhhhh, beautiful books. We put some outfits together from my closet, grabbed some pretty books, and headed to the gardens. This was one of our favorite backyards. We painstakingly returned this garden to its former glory, and even improved on it. We added a brick walkway, rejuvenated the pond by rebuilding it and adding a flagstone waterfall edge. We planted and pruned and watched it grow. The frog you'll see in some photographs we named Hamilton. (Yes, we sometimes name inanimate objects.)
Something made me think of this session the other day, and I realized it wasn't posted on our blog. When I looked back, it wasn't because I didn't love the photographs, it was because we've changed our editing style, so the post no longer fit in with the rest. I decided to change that this weekend. So, I pulled out my favorites, and decided to do a new post.
Here are some of our favorites from the day. (most photos taken in our old backyard, and the rest were taken at a park close by.)
